Update On Netflix’s Campus Project

Here’s the latest update (as of late 2025) on Netflix’s campus project in Eatontown, NJ (part of the former Fort Monmouth site) — what’s confirmed, what’s happening now, and what’s coming soon.

What’s confirmed & approved so far

  • Netflix has officially broken ground on the redevelopment of the former Fort Monmouth into a major East-Coast production hub.

  • The project spans roughly 292 acres across Eatontown and neighboring Oceanport, NJ, with a planned build-out of 12 soundstages (and associated studios, offices, production support, amenities).

  • In September 2025, new renderings were released showing detailed design plans — including soundstages, production facilities, backlot spaces, and a new main entrance along Route 35 in Eatontown.

  • Local authorities have approved multiple phases: the eastern portion in Oceanport was approved first, and in late 2025, the “Phase 1B” segment in Eatontown was unanimously approved by the Eatontown Planning Board.

What’s happening right now (or soon)

  • Demolition and clean-up of former military buildings began in May 2025 and continues. As of the latest public updates, substantial progress had been made, and the demolition work is on track through early 2026.

  • The first phase — which includes several of the soundstages (located primarily in the Oceanport/Eatontown–border area) — is slated to begin construction by 2026 per previous filings.

  • The overall project remains on schedule for a full buildout spanning over the mid-to-late 2020s.

Timeline & What to Watch For

Milestones

  • Demolition of Old Bas Buildings - Status: Underway (started May 2025), expected into early 2026

  • First soundstages build (Phase 1A — Oceanport / border area) - Status: Approved; construction expected to begin ~2026

  • Second phase (Phase 1B — Eatontown area, main entrance, central campus) - Status: Approved September 2025

  • Expected opening of first studios - Status: Around 2027

  • Full campus completion - Status: Projected around 2028 (assuming no major delays)

What this means for Eatontown / Monmouth County

  • The transformation of Fort Monmouth to a working film/TV studio campus is well underway — shifting from planning and approvals into real, physical construction.

  • Once completed, the campus will likely spur a wave of economic growth: permanent and temporary jobs (construction, production, support), increased demand for housing, nearby services, and possibly more entertainment-industry–related businesses locally.

  • For property owners and landlords in Eatontown and surrounding towns, the rising demand for rentals and sales tied to the influx of film-industry staff and associated workers could reshape the local real-estate market.
